Description

1-page printed bond receipt with handwritten insertions. Bond, issued by Cyrus Rice of Worcester, Mass. to John Chandler, 2nd, of Worcester, Mass. for the full sum of twenty-six pound, thirteen shilling, due before September 25, 1750. Signed by Rice, Chandler and witness (illegible). Handwritten note on reverse reads: "Cyrus Rice, Bond £26:13/s, Due Sept 1750."

Creases and foxing; paper repair tape; bottom right corner with part of Rice's signature torn away.

Rice, then living in Worcester, moved to the Southwest District of Deerfield in 1762 , the first to build and settle in what became the town of Conway.

Chandler was a judge, sheriff and town office holder in Worcester.
