Description
Two 3" x 5" B/W prints and a postcard of the same image: the front of George M. Darby's general store on Main Street in Conway, Mass.
Constructed about 1840 by Gen. James Whitney, it was eventually purchased by Darby in 1900, and he ran it until 1908. Harry Hassell ran it from 1910-1931, and in 1939 it became Fournier's Market. The Conway Historical Society purchased the building in 1981.
The reverse of the postcard includes detailed handwritten notes of the chain of ownership and operation.
