1) Typed letter from Raymond S. Totman, Field Memorial Library President, to Laurier J. Fortier, July 18, 1962, outlining issues surrounding the use of the Field Library as a public shelter in times of emergency. Includes the postmarked envelope.
2) Typed letter from John P. Leary, Town Counsel, Deerfield Mass. to Laurier J. Fortier, Nov. 7, 1962, exploring legality of such use of the Field Library and affirming the legal basis for it. Includes postmarked envelope.
Also included are two unused envelopes with pre-printed 3 cent postage and return address of The Town Office, Conway, Mass., and a Civil Defense seal (sticker).
