Description
Black & white photograph, 3-3/4" x 5-1/2", of Thwing gristmill, in wooden frame. Notes by H. S. Cousins on back: "The last of the Thwing grist mills, 1889. Three mills were built on this original site. The first by John Thwing in 1770, carried on by succeeding generations: Timothy, Amariah and Elbridge Thwing until 1889 -- 119 years continuous operation by the Thwing family. Daniel Seffens (my grandfather) is in the foreground of picture. He ran the mill from 1889 to 1920." Photograph is badly faded.
