Description

40 glass plate negatives, 5" x 7" and 5" x 8", created by Florence Howland of Conway subjects, including:
Congregational, Baptist and Methodist Churches, Conway Inn, Town Hall, Hawk's Store, Conway High School, Field Memorial Library, a blacksmith shop, a tobacco barn, the Newhall house, the Arms house (later MacLeish home), several other unidentified houses, unidentified individuals and family groups, and a number of scenes, including Pumpkin Hollow and Main Street. Most of the images date from the early 1900s. Some of the plates are damaged and discolored. Digital scans of most of the negatives have been created and are available. A number of the images appear in Deane Lee's 1967 history, "Conway, 1767-1967."
