297-page bound 1st edition, 11 1/2' x 9", with 14 plates. Some pages are uncut. Includes folded-in map dated 1841, and two additional maps, dated 1895 and 1898, that were tucked in at a later date. Spine is missing, cloth cover detached, foxing throughout. Contained in a protective clamshell box created at a later date. Inscription states that the book was "Presented to Prof. G. W. Bailey [or Baisley] by the government of Massachusetts through his friend the author."
