Description
6-page handwritten transcription, titled "Republican Triumph," of floor debate over Speaker of the House for 34th Congress, choosing between James Lawrence Orr, Nathaniel Prentice Banks and others in February 1856. Banks was chosen on the 133rd ballot. Inserted in pencil are names of Conway residents next to names of U.S. Representatives, suggesting that this transcription was used for a dramatic reading or school project. 3 sheets of 10" x 15" paper folded and bound with a pin (removed).
