Description

6" x 7 1/2" hardbound ledger book, approximately 60 pages, with worn patterned cover and leather binding. Originally used by unknown author from 1802 to the 1860's as an accounting ledger of monthly expenses. In the 1860's, the book was reused as a scrapbook for newspaper clippings, including obituaries, inspirational tracts, poems, and local news items. On many pages the clippings are pasted over the handwritten accounting lists.
Worn cover and binding; foxing, mildew and other staining on interior pages.
